• Mary's interests focus on the teaching of English in secondary schools, specifically on the teaching of literature. Her recent conference presentations have centred on areas of literacy and the enhancement of written expression. Currently, with a team of colleagues, she is working on the development of a research project that aims to examine the extent to which communication skills can be improved and developed by the study of poetry.
